MCCBCHST disputes Korban ritual

Yooo! Stop it la. Enough is enough. All Malaysians should respect each others religion and culture. No need to seek cheap publicity and to be seen as 'stupid public heroes' for disputing things that have been around us for years, hundreds of years.

A Malaysian Insider story about Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) questioning the 'logic' behind Aidiladha cow and goat slaughterings, is drawing anger from Muslims.

I thought Malaysians are already used to such religious rituals, just like Thaipusam and Hungry Ghost Festival. We had never questioned the rights of the believers.

Come on. Don't court trouble by disputing things you already know and aware of. Why only now you raise the matter and not 30 or 50 years ago? If one points to your agenda to help the Opposition, are you able to deny it?

Don't be stupid and pretending to be naive.

Last Friday, the non-Muslim faith council called on the authorities to end the ritualistic sacrifice of cows in school grounds and institutes of higher learning, saying such public spaces were unsuitable for a ceremony that was observed by only one community.

Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma), Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Abim) and Persatuan Ulama Malaysia (PUM) issued a statement yesterday to protest MCCBCHST.

But the MCCBCHST said the activity ignored the sensitivity of Malaysia’s multiracial nd multicultural student population, and warned it could “escalate into something undesirable in the future”, pointing to cows which are regarded as sacred by the Hindus.

And what do you mean by 'something undesirable'? Looks like you simply incited non-Muslims to protest such a ritual!

Please lor! Let's live in full respect, understanding and tolerance.

However, for one sure thing - I personally don't agree such rituals be carried out in school compounds! We have enough mosques, surau and other places for it.

jai, i think its not proper at all to slaughter cows and goats at a school compound, especially when the school hosts pupils from all race and religion. i agree with you that we have enough mosques and surau for such a ritual.

as a muslim, i believe korban must be carried out at proper places. having is in a school compound will easily lead to disputes like this.

in india where hindus form the majority, the muslims still carry out the ritual. its their religion and the hindus will not interfere.

i dont understand why must MCCBCHST come up with such an idiotic stand on korban, except for the fact that it should not be carried out in any school compound.

i hope all parties can come to their senses

i am perturbed by all this.

another nerve-inciting propaganda. who are behind it?

i am against such ritual being carried out in school compound and any campus.

i think the MCCBCHST was against this and not against the islamic ritual.

kenyataans begini menghasut sentimen agama sebenarnya.

Saudara Bujai,

Saya amat hairan mengapa penganut agama lain suka sangat memprovokasi tentang amalan ibadat orang Islam.

Amat bagus lagi kalau 'all Malay/bumiputera' goverment dapat diwujudkan!

Assalamualaikum brother.

I agree with most part of your article, except that on using school compound for the korban activity.

We should also take into account the logistic and practicality aspect of it. It is done only once a year in such a huge scale for religious purposes. Taking my own experience for example, where back in my kampung in Butterworth, my former high school was chosen as the venue simply because the surau and masjid spaces were either too crowded or limited around there. Some of the masjids' compound have been used as cemetary. That's all.

A nice decent-wide green padang is required to accommodate all these. In a way, Alhamdulillah it shows more and more well to do Muslims coming forward to do their korban and share it with other fellow Muslims. We don't want to spoil the mood by saying "Oh sorry encik anda tak boleh hantar binatang korban anda tahun ini sebab tak cukup tempat. Banyak tempat dah tak boleh buat lagi dah sebab orang lain sensitif."

Bro Jai....

Lets not b too jumpy n emo abt this issue...those guys only said they are opposed to d korban of lombu n kobao in school compound...their point is valid since why cant this ibadah b confined to areas like mesjid n dewan masyarakat or dewan org ramai?

There r so many other places but why some narrow-minded idiots insist on doing it at school, an area shared by all students of different religion n faith? Why? Sengaja maw cari pasal ke?

Buatlah d mesjid sbb lebih afdal...d Kedah ni xde masalah sbb kami umat islam d sini x pnh ganggu org len...

Why are they (Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) are questioning this after almost a century living in Malaysia ?

I think these group of people and many other has gone overboard with this thing called opennes and freedom of expression.

Sekarang semua nak soal, Ada blog, lagi lah, tukar bendera, tukar negaraku and macam macam lagi.

Hindu's also slaughter goats in temples in public, ini boleh!!!, although there are no such requirement in Hindu to slaughter anything. In fact true Hindu should be vegetarian. While you often see pigs barbequed in the open during the hungry ghost festival, ada orang question kah.

All are hyprocrites. Want to know more on Hindu Hypocrisy (including my duel with Hindu Sangam president) do visit my blog
