I have been very supportive of the police. I have also been very defensive of whatever actions they took, including the ones that caused public uproar. However, I personally dont support this one they carried out on May 4, 2010.
They stormed and ambushed the motorcades of the Sultan of Kelantan in a way that it implied the 'raja Melayu' as a bandit or terrorist and that those with him were high on the police wanted list. Whether they received instruction from the Palace or not, such an action should have been avoided. It insulted and humiliated the Sultan.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was shown the video when he paid a visit on the Sultan on June 16. Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein too was given a copy of the CD but not a word was uttered about it.
Whatever happens inside the Istana Mahkota or whether there is a power tussle among brothers, the police could have turned down the request. But as they are already deeply involved in this embarassing event, someone has got to answer. It could be the IGP or the Kelantan police chief himself. Dont expect anything from Hisham.
