BN wins Hulu Selangor

Barisan Nasional today wrest power in Hulu Selangor when its candidate P Kamalanathan defeats giant Zaid Ibrahim of the Pakatan Rakyat in a parliamentary by-election.

'Kamal' of MIC polls 24,997 to 23,272 of Zaid from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). Majority is 1,725 votes.

Two days to polling, I sent a text message to Zahid Hamidi's political-secretary Shahrul that BN would win by a majority of around 1,800 votes. Immediately after the result was announced, he SMS me, saying: "Tahniah, bro... u are right."

A total of 48,935 out of 63,701 voters cast their votes (75.87 per cent) compared with 47,622 or 75.24 per cent in 2008 general election.

The by-election was called after the death of PKR MP Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad last month.

Congrats BN!

Salam Sdra Jai,

Yes BN menang bagus. Tapi kena study the result.

Wassalam

Congratulation, BN won by 1,725 votes.

However, support to PR is still strong and also a strong signal to BN not to be complacent like during 2008 GE.

Start working NOW to win back the remaining 4,275 votes that did not converted back to BN but part of 6,000+ majority at ADUN level in 2008.

Start working ... else GE13 will just be GE12.

ALLAH KNOWS BEST.

frankly i'm sad that the malays are still divided. although most the votes for pkr comes from the chinese but activities on the ground shows that the division will be there for much longer. bn (especilally umno) have got to work hard to gain the full trust of the malays. for one the campaigning style must be changed. next character assassination must be used against dsai or anyone else.

bukan mudah menewaskan pakatan rakyat, lebih2 lagi pkr.

BN SHOULD BE GRATEFUL TO CHANDRAN FOR PULLING OUT OF THE BY-ELECTION.

HAD HE STAYED ON, MOST OF HIS SUPPORTERS WOULD HAVE VOTED AGAINST BN.
