US-Turkey relations at risk

Turkey-US relations are on the brink of collapse after the Congressional votes labeled the World War One-era massacre of Armenians by Turkish forces as genocide. Prime Minister Erdogan (pic) has issued a warning that relations between the two countries was at stake.

US, which has a major military airbase in Turkey, are also being pressured by some legislators to withdraw the decision, which has also jeopardised Turkish-Armenian good relations. Some political groups in Turkey have condemned Washington, labeling the Americans as the propagator of another war in Europe.

And the force behind the vote was the Jewish. Why? Pro-Israel lobbyists had previously backed Turkey on the issue but changed tack in retaliation for Turkish condemnation of Israel's policies in the Gaza Strip (read h e r e).

Ankara has on Friday called home its ambassador to the US to get a clearer picture ot the Congress resolution, described by Turkish people as a 'deliberate act to incite confrontation between two neighbours.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said the vote was a boost for human rights.

The vote calls on President Barack Obama to ensure U.S. policy formally refers to the massacre as genocide, putting him in a tight spot.

FOOTNOTE: I agree with the opinion that the US are the propagator of world crisis. After the Korea Peninsular, they put two Vietnams at war, then Iraq, Afghanistan, Nicaragua and now planning an attacks on Iran. They are worse than the Nazi!

what must we dig the past? if the us love doing so, then the whole world should be blamed for WW1.

the americans, british, france and even the japanese should be blamed for genocide.
