I am not a golfer. I dont play golf although I know how the game is played. Golf sets are not cheap. Golf club membership fee too is exorbitant. Had I got the money, I would love to join. As a member, I enjoy other privileges at the club house, including its jackpot room.
I am glad that the government has waived import duty for golf buggies. This will encourage more people to engage themselves in the sport, or at least enjoy being looked at as being a member of the inner circle... the rich and famous. Otherwise, we can only enjoy the aroma of Famous Amos!
Am I glad! It will also boost our sports-tourism industry. More golf clubs can be opened, more greens, more buggies, more job opportunities, more tournaments and things like that. We will become a regional center for golf.
Its a good thing that the import duty is waived. How much is a buggy costs? Between Rm20,000 to RM30,000 maybe? It will be 50 per cent cheaper after this, which is affordable to the lowest income bracket. Currently, even the cheapest car on the road is still considerably expensive to them. Now they can purchase the buggy for everyday life, like going to work, going to the market, tapping rubber and so on.
Traffic in the city is always at a crawl, almost daily. Buggy will be ideal, I suppose. The road-tax and insurance will be very, very low too. Hope the government will regulate for cheaper golf sets and club membership, too.
