First, Permatang Pauh. Then Kuala Terengganu. Recently in Batang Ai, Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau. Next will be Penanti in Penang.
So many by-elections, too much money was spent. Many people were also making quick bucks out of it. (Read comment by Mana-Mana..)
When is it going to stop? Are elected Member of Parliament and Aduns not serious in honouring the trust given by the voters? What will be the implication on the future of politics in Malaysia?
Many believed this has to stop. The Election Commission should study the existing provisions as not to become the scapegoat to political disharmony. Unless for death or other solid reasons, MPs and Aduns must not be allowed to easily relinquish their position as they wish.
This is not at all a healthy political environment. Should we allow it to continue, may as well we call for a snap election rather than having to attend to such cases.
The opposition, in particular, should realise that their elected candidates must observe a high political code of ethic and not simply turning back to the rakyat to reassess them. Should they have other personal plan, they could have skipped being fielded as candidates.
What are we looking at now, actually? Just for the fun of it?
