I am in support of Ahiruddin Attan @ Rockybru going back to the New Straits Times Press (NSTP) as its new editorial chief. The Umno-owned newspapers conglomerate needs the right people to steer it into the black again.
While Bru wrote about Bernama here in his latest posting, I would rather reckon that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak take a look at NSTP, Bernama and Utusan as well.
What Bru said about Bernama was absolute right. Since Datuk Jaafar Hussein (ex-chief editor) retired in 2004 to contest in the 11th general election (but Pak Lah chopped him off at 11th hour), the government news agency has gone haywire.
Jef's idea to establish Bernama TV was initially met with criticism but it eventually kicked off, led by a group of novice.
As for NSTP, the idea to make Business Times as a pullout of NST and the decision to sell of The Malay Mail has left the Group with no more pride. Only Harian Metro was doing well while the other publications were just slumps!
