To liken 'Bumiputra' as 'apartheid' is totally out of sanity. Its an unduly act and something of non-venial.
When Pemuda Umno vice chief Khairy Jamaluddin lambasted you for such a remark, he was damn right! Do you have any idea what apartheid is? If not, I can tell you what apartheid means from A to Z.
I was in Soweto and Transvaal merely three months after the demise of apartheid. Who invited me? Mr Thabo Mbeki, who was deputy president of the African Nartional Congress (ANC) then, 18 months after I interviewed him in Kuala Lumpur.
Many parts of the South African blacks were devastated due to communal riots and rampage during apartheid. Could you imagine how destitude the blacks at that time? Or could you stand the agony of watching someone being torched alive inside a pile of burning tyres?
This is Malaysia. The Malays are most tolerable although they are the ones still striving to get at par with the Chinese, Indians and other races.
Being an opposition leader does not warrant you to make such an inadmissible compariment. Are you a Malaysian yourself? If you want to experience what apartheid is all about, go on provocating.
People like you never learnt! After Karpal Singh sparked an unruly protest at the Parliament, maybe you were testing Pemuda to storm the Johor State Legislative Building and confront you. This is not the way to gain publicity, YB. You are aggravating tension among the Malays.
As Khairy said, you should understand why 'Bumiputra' was the main focus of the NEP. They were so poor when the NEP was launched. Other races were doing quite okay then. Unless if you want to see the real apatheid, you may try to put an end to the programme.
During Karpal's outburst, Khairy was the most level-headed politician to advice the 700,000 Pemuda members to refrain from taking any unlawful action, not like members of Pakatan Rakyat who are so fond of taking to the streets to protest against nothing.
Please remember, Pemuda Umno is Bumiputras, too. Dont you think they have enough of such nonsense? What about the rest of the Malays and Bumiputras?
