The 59th general assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday saw this new attraction. About 10 pom-pom groups comprising of between 15-30 members of the Puteri Umno wing gave delegates, candidates, observers and the media an 'arousing' surprise.
Wooing the candidates of their choice was their main task, maybe. The way they greeted them was absolutely similar to that of a Grammy Award gala. A few hours before Datuk Seri Najib arrived to officiate the assembly, PWTC was turned into a beano.Some septuagenarians were seen impressed, the rest looked disgusted. A function that was supposed to be conducted in a Malay-style stately manner has turned into an ineptly immodest fiesta.
Who's idea was it? Many believed the girls were paid for. Otherwise, nobody would want to become such monkeys of politics.
Perhaps, this is a new function of the Puteri wing... who knows!
