The latest tip-off is that, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will 'go for good' on Monday, April 6 2009.Not March 29 or April 4, sources said. "He needs at least week after the Umno General Assembly (March 24-28) concludes."
Well, I dont like to speculate. As to whether he will step down tomorrow or next year, it does not matter. Our focus for the time being is on the general assembly, particularly on who will win the party elections and who will have to bow out.
Now that Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu has retained his presidency in the MIC (he promised to step down in 2012), the trend in Umno now is not very promising, as how it was described by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
As the pillar for Barisan Nasional, Umno needs more than just a strong new team under Najib Razak to strengthen its position and regain members confidence.
