AL-FATIHAH for Zubir Ali

Singer-composer Zubir Ali, whose songs 'Penantian' and 'Balada Seorang Gadis Kecil' were among top hits during the 80s, died at the Damansara Specialist Hospital at 10.30am today.

The former member of folk-band Harmoni was 60. He underwent heart bypass a week ago.

Born in Alor Star, Zubir was popular during the 80s for his poetic songs. His 'Balada Seorang Gadis Kecil' was attributed to the victims of the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps massacre in Lebanon in 1984.

I remember singing his 'Penantian' at a wedding ceremony for Rosmanizam Abdullah (ex-BH) and Norhayati in Melaka in the mid-80s.

Zubir leaves behind a wife, a son and two daughters. He was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara cemetery after Asar prayers.

AL-FATIHAH, may Allah place him in His Jannah... Amin!

bang,

saya rasa penyanyi zaman sekarang sukar menandingi kehebatan zubir ali.
