Do numbers really matter? Some say yes, some say no.
The run-up to Umno general assembly gets more interesting as candidates aspiring for senior party positions are numbered on the ballot papers.
For instance, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is given number 1 for his 3-cornered fight with Datuk Seri Ali Rustam and Tan Sri Muhammad Muhd Taib for the deputy president seat. Zahid Hamidi also gets no.1 bidding for one of the three vice-president posts.
However, Hishamuddin Hussein who gets the most nominations from Umno divisions, stands last at no.8. In fact, Hisham is most favourite to win one of the posts.
Rafidah, too, is no.1 compared to her opponent Shahrizat. As for Pemuda chief, Mukhriz gets no.1 tag, followed by Khir Toyo and Khairy Jamaluddin.
Many believe those ticked at no.1 will be in Datuk Seri Najib's new team. However, some said no.2 is good. For instance, one of Ali Rustam's aides said as the Melaka Chief Minister is contesting for the party's no.2 position, his no.2 tagging gives a strong indication to party delegates for the general assembly.
Blimme! Looks like the Malays are at feng shui too. This numbering issue is already making them contemplating.
