A lot of people didnt like my posting on Umno defeat in the Kuala Terengganu by-election, many of whom described me as trying 'to smear our top leaders' name' or 'wanting to create uneasy feeling among party members'.
The 'Pentarama' issue prompted some senior aides to this 'top leaders' to call me for explanation (because they were not there that night) while those who attended the 'fiesta' said I was not supposed to expose it. A few warnings did come, too! Only a handful said it was a good one, that it should be perceived as a wake-up call.
Was I wrong?
As an ordinary member ( I dont know whether I am still one), just like a few million more, we dont deserve to expose any 'wrongdoing', dont we? We deserve no rights whatsoever to tell them by saying 'hey, this is wrong' or 'we cant accept this', huh?
Yes, there are proper channels for grassroot members to voice out their dissatisfaction. However, how efficient are this so called channels? Will complaints reach the utmost level of the party administration?
I dont think so.
Umno is becoming a party of bad detente, an organisation which feeds the greed and personal needs of its office bearers, starting at its branch level. Disgruntled members could not find a way to protest almost every decision passed by the leaders. Those who dare will eventually find themselves on the sideline.
Once you are sidelined, it will the end. Your existence will be forgotten.
Division leaders operates like gangsters, leading their own clans, chosing who he likes as branch heads. Who says branch chiefs are chosen by members? As I am from Melaka, Masjid Tanah division is a good 'rotten' example (I posted something about it in October last year).
That's why each time the party calls for branch and division meetings, many will work hard for it. Money politics will be common. 'My Team' and 'Your Team' will clash like titans as division head normally gets project allocation from the party.
No just that. Whoever heads the division must get full endorsement from higher authorities i.e State Umno Chairman, vice-presidents, youth head or wanita head. If they pull different cards, out you go. Is Kluang division ready to confide?
So, what's wrong if bloggers like me do some 'reportings' on the weblog?
Should I have any complaint, must I go to Paklah or Najib or KJ or Ahmad Rithauddeen or Hisham? Nope! Almost impossible that they will entertain you when relating it to their senior aides even takes a lot of hassle. If their aides decline you, forget about meeting their bosses! You and me are just dirts to their shoes!
That's where I miss the era of Tun Dr Mahathir where almost all complaints, including minor ones, were attended to and given feedbacks. Actions were taken in many cases, too.
So, bloggers. Dont be intimidated. Its your duty to correct the imbalances.
You dont have to wait to be offered RM25 million to shut up. You are not any state assemblyman or lawmaker!
