Makan, Mencekik or Mentekedahgah?

DISGUSTING is how I describe it!

It really spoilt my 2-nite stay at a Tioman resort hotel recently. Why? There was this group of Singaporeans (no offense...), about 40 of them, also stayed at the same resort.

Each time when breakfast, lunch, tea of dinner are served, they automatically turned into professional rugby players. They scrammed each and single dish - enough for about 100 guests - walloping everything within minutes.

So famish, they were! From kids as old as 7-years old to grandpas as old as 80, their leftovers at the end of every meal could feed another 2 or 3 adults!

Few plates hit the floor, some chopsticks broke into two.

To latecomers, sorry!

I wonder how these people were brought up...

big different between the singaporean chinese and that of the malaysians.

malaysian chinese are more considerate in many aspects.

i encountered the same experience when staying at a hotel in langkawi earlier this year.

i am a chinese but i just hate their eating habit

lawrence,

i didnt mention about chinese, malay, indian or what.

i didnt want to create uneasy feelings among readers, esp the singaporeans.

i was just zeroing towards a bad eating habit and where they are from.

some of us, too, have bad table manners

that was my experience.

mr bujai,

not all singaporeans are such. i believe they represented a small faction of the 'over-excited' people. you cannot blame them as they were on vacation and wanting to enjoy themselves.

sue,

maybe the food was too good to resist. have you been to malaysia?

bro. sorry that i have to tell you this. my experience is here, in KL. i organised a function at a hotel for about 300 guests. we also invited a reporter and a photographer for dinner later that day. we reserved 2 tables for 20 persons for the press. you know what happened? the chinese reporters and photographers came in like attending a kenduri. almost 30 of them, minus about 10 non-chinese who covered the day event. fuuhhh!!!

jenny,
i believe you are a young, pretty and nice lady... and well-educated too.

did you read it properly? did i say ALL singaporeans? i posted it based on my own experience.

i didnt mean to offence anybody.

when u made a comparison about singaporeans and malaysians bringing up, you are the one who is WRONG in your statement.

anyway, thanks for reading.

Guess, we better stop having all those Raya, New Year, Deepavali and Christmas mega open houses then. Especially in Johor. It'd be war when locals start accusing Singaporeans of hogging the best stalls, eating a week's worth or worse, tapauing them satays or pineapple tarts. And many Malaysians are guilty of that too. I can understand if they are starving Rwandans.

But by the look of it, kiasuism is here to stay. Some Malaysians leaders are already aping and embracing them kiasu promulgators with delight.

And you can bet there won't be any signs that read 'No Dogs and Singaporeans' anytime soon. Despite some of their revolting traits, the Dollar speaks louder than the Ringgit.
